Controversy Trails PDP Elective Congress in Ekiti Over Alleged Irregularities
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elective Congress in Ekiti State, covering all sixteen local government areas, has been overshadowed by allegations of procedural breaches and electoral irregularities.
Speaking to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti after the election, Chairmanship contestant Barrister Sunday Olowolafe accused certain elements within the party of manipulating the process and disenfranchising legitimate delegates.
In response to the election results, Tunji Odeyemi remarked that the process could have been more transparent. He noted that most positions were filled through consensus, with only the chairmanship attracting genuine competition.
Additionally, Michael Oke, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees in Ekiti, stated that the PDP is now well-positioned to reclaim its rightful place in the politics of Ekiti State.
The party, however, has assured that the internal crises have been resolved and promised to establish a new executive committee to implement changes aimed at restoring the PDP’s competitiveness in the state
