The Federal Government has announced a nationwide enforcement of the National Policy for the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank (NERD) concerning academic credential verification.

This enforcement is scheduled to commence on October 6th, two thousand and twenty-five.

According to a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja, all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and higher institutions in Nigeria must implement a structured verification process for the academic credentials of all current and prospective staff.

This process is to be conducted through the National Credential Verification Service (NCVS) under the NERD programme.

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has debunked claims that her 65th birthday anniversary fundraiser is tied to her husband’s 2027 re-election bid.

Senator Tinubu stated this during an interactive session with State House Correspondents at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, also revealing that the fundraiser, which is for the construction of a new National Library complex, has received over 20.4 billion naira in donations since she first announced it.

She added that the signatories to the account are the Minister of Education and the Chief Librarian of the Federation, insisting hers was to help drive the funds.
