Federal Government Enforces Credential Verification for All Staff Under New Education Repository Policy

The Federal Government has announced a nationwide enforcement of the National Policy for the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank (NERD) concerning academic credential verification.

This enforcement is scheduled to commence on October 6th, two thousand and twenty-five.

According to a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja, all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and higher institutions in Nigeria must implement a structured verification process for the academic credentials of all current and prospective staff.

This process is to be conducted through the National Credential Verification Service (NCVS) under the NERD programme.

Mapo Hall Access Restricted as Ibadan Prepares for Oba Rashidi Ladoja’s Coronation

The organizing committee, inaugurated by the state government to oversee the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Akanmu Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has announced the closing of some routes leading to the ancient Mapo Hall.
The security committee, under the general committee chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, issued a traffic advisory informing the general public that traffic diversions on the routes were occasioned by the visit of President Bola Tinubu, who has promised to attend the coronation ceremony of Oba Rashidi Ladoja. The committee stated that the affected routes shall be shut by 7:00 am on Friday.
The affected routes include: Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall; Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba; Idi-Arere Junction inwards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.
The committee, however, made it known that it has provided three official designated parks in Ibadan, namely, Ibadan North local government’s car park in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi, the second car park is located at the football field beside Yemetu Police Station, while the third car park is at Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado. pr

CBN Cuts Interest Rate to 27% Amid Signs of Easing Inflation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has reduced the benchmark interest rate from 27.5 percent to 27 percent, its first cut after months of tightening.

CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso said that the decision was driven by sustained disinflation and projections of easing inflation for the rest of 2025, while other measures, such as raising the Cash Reserve Requirement for commercial banks to 45 percent, were introduced to tighten liquidity.

With the next MPC meeting fixed for November 22nd, stakeholders have said that the committee’s ability to sustain price stability while supporting growth will be closely watched in the months ahead.

The Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, disclosed this in Abuja during the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Ministry of Defense Health Implementation Programme.
