Uganda’s Electoral Commission has cleared President Yoweri Museveni and opposition leader Bobi Wine to run in the country’s 2026 elections.

The announcement sets the stage for a dramatic political showdown between Museveni, who has ruled since 1986, and Win, who commands strong support among young Ugandans.

With elections set for January 2026, the stage is now set for a high-stakes contest that pits Uganda’s past against its possible future.

Olubadan Designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has announced plans to propose a bill that would make the Yoruba language a compulsory subject in all schools across Oyo State.

Professor Kola Owolabi noted that the center was at the Olubadan’s residence to seek the monarch’s support in restoring the lost glory of Yorubaland’s culture and traditions.

The Federal Government has announced a nationwide enforcement of the National Policy for the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank (NERD) concerning academic credential verification.

This enforcement is scheduled to commence on October 6th, two thousand and twenty-five.

According to a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja, all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and higher institutions in Nigeria must implement a structured verification process for the academic credentials of all current and prospective staff.

This process is to be conducted through the National Credential Verification Service (NCVS) under the NERD programme.
