Makinde Administration Expands Power Access with New Mini-Grids in Rural Communities

The Oyo State Government has announced the completion of three out of five targeted mini-grids across the state as part of its efforts to strengthen electricity access in rural communities.

The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, who disclosed this to newsmen in Ibadan, said the projects are being executed through the Oyo State Rural Electrification Board (OYSREB).

Shangodoyin explained that the completed mini grids are located in Ajia, Oke Ifon, and Agbaruru, while construction work is ongoing at the Ogbomoso and Iseyin sites.

He said the collaboration is expected to enhance the state’s electrification programs further and accelerate energy access in underserved areas.

The commissioner emphasized that the mini-grid projects form part of the Makinde administration’s broader strategy to expand access to energy in both urban and rural areas, ensuring that no community is left behind in the state’s power development agenda.
