Dangote Refinery has backed President Bola Tinubu’s recent fifteen percent fuel and diesel import duty tariff. The spokesperson of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, made the firm’s stance known in a statement released. According to him, the tariff is designed to protect Dangote Refinery from unfair competition and safeguard local production.
The Warri-Itakpe train has derailed in the Agbor area of Delta State, four days after the resumption of train service was announced. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that vandals might have caused the derailment. It also said two out of the seven coaches of the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) were involved. The NRC, in a statement signed by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa, however, said no casualties were recorded. Opeifa also said train services on the corridor had been temporarily suspended for a comprehensive safety audit of the track and related infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has suspended some of its operatives for allegedly extorting the sum of ten million naira from Nigerian rapper, Oladipupo Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips. EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, stating that the anti-graft agency viewed the allegation with utmost seriousness and had already launched a full-scale investigation into the matter. The hip-hop artist had alleged that he was detained for five days by EFCC operatives, claiming that he paid ten million naira before regaining his freedom, despite no evidence of wrongdoing. Oyawale said the officers involved in the musician’s case had been summoned to the commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja for questioning.

The Oyo State Government has formally handed over ninety hectares of land at Moniya, Ibadan, to the Federal Government for the proposed construction of an Inland Dry Port, after Governor Seyi Makinde, presented the official documents to the ministry’s representatives.
Speaking Earlier at an event held in the conference room of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, expressed optimism that the proposed Inland Dry Port project would soon become a reality and boost industrialization as well as the agricultural value chain in the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Oyo State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, lauded the partnership, adding that the state would create an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the project.

The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, has assured operators and stakeholders in Nigeria’s haulage and logistics sector that the ongoing fiscal reform would eliminate the burden of multiple taxation and illegal roadblocks that have burdened the transport industry for decades.
Speaking at the Eleventh edition of the Haulage & Logistics Magazine yearly conference in Lagos, Oyedele described the reforms as the most significant and consequential since independence, aimed at addressing systemic inefficiencies that have inflated transportation costs and worsened food inflation across the country.
Responding to public concern over a proposed five per cent fuel levy, Oyedele clarified that the surcharge will not take effect in January 2026, but only when certain economic conditions are met, such as naira appreciation or a five per cent drop in crude oil prices.

Alausa said the programme had transitioned from planning to full implementation, with the first phase of disbursement covering both academic and non-academic personnel in a 30:70 ratio, reflecting the government’s inclusive approach to supporting all categories of staff in the nation’s higher education institutions.
