The victory also means Ghana has secured qualification for the 2026 Under-17 AFCON in Morocco.
To reach the last four of the regional competition, the Golden Eaglets topped their group, which included the Benin Republic and Burkina Faso.

A waste management expert in Ibadan, Ajiboye Oluwatobi, has called on residents of the city to take individual responsibility for environmental sanitation, stressing that clean surroundings begin with personal commitment. In an interview with Dominion News, Oluwatobi decried the indiscriminate dumping of refuse, especially into drainage systems, describing the act as illegal, harmful, and avoidable. He stated that most cases of blocked drainage in the city result from careless waste disposal by members of the public. Oluwatobi, however, urged the public to adopt better waste management habits and view environmental sanitation as a shared civic duty necessary for public health and sustainable urban living.

PENGASSAN Suspends Strike as Dangote Refinery Agrees to Recall Sacked Workers

The Federal Government has announced a resolution to the recent industrial dispute involving the Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), resulting in the suspension of strike action and the redeployment of affected staff.

Following a two-day dialogue between representatives of the Federal Government, PENGASSAN, and Dangote Refinery management, an agreement was reached to reinstate workers who were previously disengaged for their affiliation with the union. In response, PENGASSAN has officially suspended its two-day strike against the company.

Confirming the development in a statement issued in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, stated that the Dangote Group has committed to redeploying the affected employees to other roles within the company. He further assured that no worker would suffer any loss of pay as a result of the redeployment.

The swift resolution reflects the government’s efforts to maintain industrial harmony in the oil and gas sector, particularly at a time when the country is pursuing economic reforms.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to unite in the task of rebuilding the nation. In his Independence Day address, he acknowledged the economic difficulties brought on by recent reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, but maintained that the measures were necessary to avert a larger crisis. FG Resolves Dangote Refinery Labour Dispute, Redeployment of Staff Begins

The Federal Government has said that the Dangote Group will redeploy staff earlier disengaged from its refinery operations, following the resolution of its dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Doctor Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, confirmed this in a statement issued in Abuja.

The Federal Government also announced that the redeployed staff will not suffer any loss of pay due to the redeployment.

The South African Football Association, SAFA, has said it will lodge a formal appeal against the three-point deduction and fine sanctioned against it by FIFA, for fielding an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena, during their two thousand and twenty-six World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho in March.
According to latest reports, FIFA, has now awarded Lesotho a 3-0 win in the Group C qualifier that took place on March twenty-one, of which Bafana initially won by two goals to nothing, but with a player who was supposed to be suspended.
The ruling will see their six-point gap ahead of Nigeria cut to three points, while the Benin Republic will also go top on goal difference, against which SAFA has prepared their appeal.

US-Brokered Gaza Peace Plan Gains Support from European and Middle Eastern Leaders

European and Middle Eastern leaders, have expressed support for a new United States-brokered peace proposal aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, while President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Hamas to accept the deal or face consequences.

The plan, jointly announced by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of twenty living Israeli hostages within seventy-two hours, and the return of the remains of more than two dozen others believed to be dead.

In exchange, Israel would release hundreds of detained Palestinians. The plan added that Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza, leaving the door open for an eventual Palestinian state, but, Netanyahu, later again ruled this out.

International Media Lose Contact as Taliban Shuts Down Telecom Networks

The Taliban government in Afghanistan, has imposed a nationwide shutdown of telecommunications, weeks after it began severing fibre-optic internet connections.
The country is currently experiencing a total internet blackout, with international news agencies complaining to have lost contact with offices in the capital Kabul.
However, the Taliban have refused to give an official reason for the shutdown which has affected both mobile internet and satellite TV across Afghanistan.
