Doctors’ Strike at LAUTECH: NMA Gives Oyo Govt 15 Days to Act or Face Escalation

Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Oyo State branch, has issued a fifteen-day ultimatum to the state government, demanding urgent resolution of long-standing welfare and administrative challenges affecting doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

The warning was issued during a press conference held at the NMA House, Total Garden, Ibadan, and addressed by the Chairman of the association, Doctor Happy Adedapo.

He disclosed that members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the hospital have been on indefinite strike since July 29, 2025, without any meaningful engagement or response from the state government, nearly two months into the action.

The association’s demands include the implementation of improved remuneration structures, prompt payment of allowances, employment of additional medical staff, infrastructural upgrades, and proper governance structures for the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

Olubadan-Designate Ladoja Backs Bill to Make Yoruba Language Compulsory in Oyo Schools

Olubadan Designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has announced plans to propose a bill that would make the Yoruba language a compulsory subject in all schools across Oyo State.

Oba Rashidi Ladoja made this statement while receiving a delegation from the Center for Yoruba Language at the University of Ibadan.

During the meeting with the team from the Center for Yoruba Language, Oba Rashidi Ladoja expressed concern about the increasing number of Yoruba parents raising their children primarily using the English language instead of their native tongue.

Earlier, Professor Kola Owolabi, the Chairman of the Center for Yoruba Language, urged Yoruba parents not to deprive their children of the beauty of the Yoruba language and culture by favoring English.

Professor Kola Owolabi noted that the center was at the Olubadan’s residence to seek the monarch’s support in restoring the lost glory of Yorubaland’s culture and traditions.

NNPCL Gets ₦318bn for Oil Exploration as FG Pushes Frontier Basin Development

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has received about three hundred and eighteen billion naira between January and August two thousand and twenty-five for frontier oil exploration.

This is according to documents from the September two thousand and twenty-five Federation Account Allocation Committee meeting.

The deductions represent thirty percent of Production Sharing Contract profits, which are automatically set aside each month for exploration in inland basins.

Regulations also require the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission to manage the fund through an escrow account and issue an annual Frontier Basin Exploration and Development Plan.

Federal Government Enforces Credential Verification for All Staff Under New Education Repository Policy

The Federal Government has announced a nationwide enforcement of the National Policy for the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank (NERD) concerning academic credential verification.

This enforcement is scheduled to commence on October 6th, two thousand and twenty-five.

According to a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja, all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and higher institutions in Nigeria must implement a structured verification process for the academic credentials of all current and prospective staff.

This process is to be conducted through the National Credential Verification Service (NCVS) under the NERD programme.

Mapo Hall Access Restricted as Ibadan Prepares for Oba Rashidi Ladoja’s Coronation

The organizing committee, inaugurated by the state government to oversee the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Akanmu Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has announced the closing of some routes leading to the ancient Mapo Hall.
The security committee, under the general committee chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, issued a traffic advisory informing the general public that traffic diversions on the routes were occasioned by the visit of President Bola Tinubu, who has promised to attend the coronation ceremony of Oba Rashidi Ladoja. The committee stated that the affected routes shall be shut by 7:00 am on Friday.
The affected routes include: Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall; Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba; Idi-Arere Junction inwards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.
The committee, however, made it known that it has provided three official designated parks in Ibadan, namely, Ibadan North local government’s car park in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi, the second car park is located at the football field beside Yemetu Police Station, while the third car park is at Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado. pr
